Frequently Asked Questions

Many children experience periods of stress, worry, big emotions, or changes in behavior as they grow. If your child’s struggles are beginning to affect home life, school, friendships, or family relationships—or if you’ve tried different approaches without seeing lasting improvement—therapy may be helpful.
You don’t have to wait until things feel severe to seek support. Therapy can also give children a safe space to process changes, build confidence, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop healthy ways of coping.

Every child is different, and there is no one-size-fits-all timeline for therapy. The length of therapy depends on your child’s unique needs, goals, and circumstances. Throughout our work together, we’ll regularly review your child’s progress and discuss recommendations so you have a clear understanding of how therapy is progressing and what your child may need moving forward.
-
Yes! Parents and caregivers are an important part of the therapeutic process.
Every five play therapy sessions, we schedule a parent meeting to discuss how your child is doing both inside and outside of the playroom. These meetings allow us to talk about progress, address concerns, and discuss ways you can support your child at home while still protecting the privacy of your child’s therapeutic space.

Services are private pay and out-of-network with insurance.
We value the privacy of our clients and have chosen not to participate in insurance panels. In doing this, we are not required to provide diagnostic codes that remain on a child’s permanent mental health record.
Out-of-Network Reimbursement
If your insurance plan includes out-of-network coverage, your therapist can provide documentation (using an ICD-10 code that indicates a diagnosis is being deferred) for reimbursement of session fees. Full payment is required at time of treatment, and then you will submit the documentation to your insurance company. Your insurance provider will reimburse you directly.
Please call your insurance company to confirm your out-of-network percentage of reimbursement before scheduling the free consultation.
Medicaid (StayWell, Amerigroup/Simply Healthcare, Sunshine, etc.)
Because we are a private-pay practice, we cannot treat children on any Medicaid plans.
Please call your Medicaid provider and request a list of approved mental health providers who are in your network.

The first step is simply reaching out! We’ll schedule a complimentary consultation call where you can share a little about what’s going on with your child, ask any questions you have, and see if I might be a good fit for your family.
If it feels like a good fit, we’ll schedule a parent-only intake to talk more about your child and the play therapy process!
